You were right, amandajean, they are addictive! Jacquie, you’d be so proud of me…notice the “wonky” lines? It’s all improvisional! A big step for me. I was/am a math minor, so I think that says a lot about me liking straight lines and everything even. I took a big step outside of my box just grabbing scraps and sewing them on. It’s funny to hear others say it’s liberating, but it really is! Now…what to do with it???
The scraps used were the tiny little scraps I love to save. I can’t stand the thought of tossing out a scrap unless it is absolutely unusable. So I save little bits, less than an inch square sometimes, in the hopes I'll find some way to use them. I thought I was probably a little weird, until amandajean made me feel much better today with her post. I don’t have a large management flow down for them, but it’s to the point I need something better than my big baskets and little jar. For now, I'm using a freezer bag. It works nicely for seeing what i need, or just grabbing at random. Keep in mind, I don’t have a huge amount of scraps. Anyways, now I don’t feel so alone in my scrap-saving-obsession. Just look what loveliness can be made from little scraps!
Here’s your daily dose of yellow for Yellow Week. I *heart* these scissors. They are the perfect sewing room scissors.

I save the tiny little scraps too. I don't know why. I currently have one less than an inch square sitting on my floor because I can't decide whether to keep it or throw it, and it's easier just to leave it there than make that kind of life altering judgement.
How big is this block? It is so cute! I need to try to liberate myself as well. I save them all, too. Freezer bags work for me as well, but AmandaJean was right then they start disappearing and appearing later.
here is a good idea for something to put scraps in http://belladia.typepad.com/crafty_crow/2009/02/fabric-storage-boxes.html
Little scraps make a great alternative to paper for gluing activities when Brice is older. CT gets all cranky when I offer something other than fabric for gluing activities. They all go into a big bag and sometimes, I get really lucky and there is enough for a covered button while CT gets jiggy with the glue stick.
Oh I made three of these last night (it's my therapy)! It's hard to stop once you start.
I love all of your fun contrasting fabrics and wonky lines!
I love the log cabins.I have also made several while just playing around. The first I made a little pillow from and the others just sit there for now ;-) I use a freezer bag for scraps. I was thinking for cards possibly or some kind of collage or something for the kids to play with too very cute block
I love them, I am not a striaght line person as you well know these are beautiful.
LOVE your log cabin block. and not so straight lines add lots of interest to your block. :)
Your log cabins inspire me.... so fresh!
