Here I Am!

5/23/2011

It’s been awhile.  Thank you for all the kind comments on my last post about being in Artful Blogging.  With vacation and coming back to reality I didn’t get to respond to everyone’s comments…but I did see lots of new names and visited lots of new blogs.  I haven’t made it through all of Artful Blogging myself yet (I like to take my time and savor each issue) but I’ll tell you, the pieces I’ve read have all spoken to me in some way.  It’s amazing how each issues seems to have bloggers that have a similar style and feeling to their pieces, it never feels disjointed and I love connecting with other blogs that resonate so strongly with me.

I haven’t gotten to do any sewing since we’ve been back, but I did get a few pictures edited.  It’s taken me longer than usual to get to them, usually getting to just one a day, and sometimes not even feeling it’s worthy of posting.  I love having photos to edit at my leisure, so I’m sure I’ll be working on them for months to come.  I found a really great landscape photography book last week and I think I’ll share about it in the coming weeks.

Brice’s birthday was yesterday.  I officially have a 3 year old on my hands.  Tantrums and all.  He’s taken to screaming at the top of his lungs when he doesn’t get his way.  I just calmly pick him up and deposit him in his room when he does this.  I honestly don’t know another way to deal with it.  He’s taking lots of time out’s and having to do lots of apologizing.

In other news, we have a new puppy around.  He’s wonderful!  I’ll let you read more about the situation over here.  We should return to our regular crafting goodness soon…once I feel I have a chance to breath a little.

yay! I'm so glad you are back. I wanted to know a little bit about the lens you rented for the trip--what it does, etc.

Re: 3-year-olds. I have a 3-year-old grandson and Brice sounds pretty typical. Levi is very stubborn but also very sensitive, which makes for some interesting situations. What I love about my son and daughter-in-law's parenting style is that when Levi apologizes and says "sorry," they always make him say WHAT he is apologizing for so he makes that connection and isn't just saying he's sorry because it's easy to say. Anyway, Brice is adorable!

The perfect mum, that's the only way to deal with it. Have 4 kids and they all went trough that way. Love you're pictures, wish I could do it like that. My DD is jalous, she so wants a pup... take care.

Gorgeous photos! I just love the majestic sky. I feel your mommy-of-a-three-year-old pain. That was a trying year for me. I can happily report that my boy made it through just fine and is a super responsible and kind dedicated student and all-around pleasant 14 year old now. He still doesn't make his bed, but I'm over it. haha.

Your puppy is so sweet!!! Have fun!

Great photos. Editing photos later on is a refreshing way to relive the highlights of a vacation.

As of 10 days ago we also have a 3 year old in the house. My least favourite age ever.
Stunning photos, as always.

Count me in as one of your newest fans! I just picked up Artful Blogging (only my 2nd one ~ didn't know it existed) and devoured every word last night. A lot of what you wrote resonated with me. Your "rawness" and vulnerability in the content could have come from my heart as well. While my blog isn't "Artful", it is my art. It too is my journal, my therapy and my place to vent. I look forward to hanging around here some more and learning more about you ~ about your crafting ~ about your growth. As for the 3-year old...I raised 5 of them, the youngest now 20 and the oldest to turn 26 in 12 days. They are blessings.
