Congratulations 'dragonfly'! An email has been sent. Thanks to everyone who participated!!
I enjoy journaling, and I enjoy journaling with photos. Sometimes a photo says it better than I can. I’m not really a scrapbooker, but I enjoy the idea of photos and words and some light embellishment. Last year I signed up for an online art journaling class, and I really enjoyed the lessons. As much as I enjoy writing, sometimes I struggle with what to write about. I have always thought of journaling my life as being something important. I want to one day be able to pass on my life stories (no matter how mundane) to my children or grandchildren, so if they are interested, they can get a true glimpse into my everyday life. This is of course hoping I will have some grandchild that is as interested in history as I am.
Katie (a longtime blog friend) at Gadanke is the designer behind this fun journal I’ve been working on for a few months. I bought it back in March, and I’ve been filling in the pages ever since. What is especially wonderful is all the prompts throughout. I love having a few minutes to myself, and just opening the pages and writing whatever I feel like, in no particular order. The other day I printed some of my favorite Instagram photos of late and added them in. I’m loving the doily that was inside!
I especially love that the journal has a little pocket for holding treasures (and came with a blank sticker for me to decorate) and old library cards.
I have filled in pages with words, but obviously those are mostly personal so I haven’t shared them here. But I love the opportunities for filing out and adding in photos and other memento's. It’s such a fun, cute journal. If you’ve ever wanted to have more of an “art” journal, this is a great first step with all of this fun items inside. And this is not the only journal! There are so many other variations – recipe, kid’s, Christmas, baby, home… Really, something for everyone.

Katie has graciously offered up a $25 gift certificate to Gadanke for one lucky commenter. Head on over to their site and take a look around at the different journals let me know your favorite. I’ll pick a random winner on Sunday!
Here is a little more from Katie on the topic of the journals:
♥ The best thing about Gadanke journals (if you ask me!) is that they're accessible and usable for anybody. ♥ They're for people who say they never know what to write about. Gadanke journals have lots of writing prompts to help keep the ball rolling. ♥ The journals are small, so they fit in your purse. A lot of women take them to the coffee shop. You could even journal sitting in the carpool lane! ♥ The books give you a place to put your stuff. Date night movie ticket stubs? Vacation postcards? Paste them in or open the loose bindings and pop 'em in. ♥ And for those who wish they were craftier or want crafting to be easier and more fun, the tags, envelopes and cool papers in the journals help bridge the gap and inspire you to start embellishing your pages. |
And because the story behind why Katie started these journals is so close to how I feel, I wanted to share it here with you:
“ A couple of years ago, NPR's StoryCorp was in town. It was also my grandma's 90th birthday. The two of us decided to hop into the recording studio to capture some pieces of her story. I had all sorts of prompts to help her with her story telling. (I was always the listener, the one who asked question after question.) The only problem? My grandma couldn't remember. Too much time had passed. Later, my dad turned to me and said, "Katie, I need you to write down your story." I knew he wished he had his mom's stories. So I started writing. I started wondering about all of the other women who have stories deep inside of them, and I started thinking about how my tendency to just listen and ask could help put those stories onto paper. Gadanke was born with fabulous writing prompts and recycled papers. I feel so lucky to be living my dream!” |

I love your idea and your journal will be such a cherished family heirloom. What a gift for the future generations!
Your link didn't take me to their site but I googled it and found them. I love to make lists .... things to do, things to change in my life, presents to make, etc. The doodle list journal would be perfect.
I love journals - all types - and I've always loved the Gadanke journals, they've got great style. I would probably get the You Are Loved baby journal, or maybe the Christmas one!
I like the She. Me, My Life, My days variation. These are great!
that is super cute; I love how it's scrapbooky without being a scrapbook.
I love the Follow My Heart journal.
the "Become" journal looks lovely. I like the idea of becoming something more than i am... or at least exploring the idea... i'm the type for whom the extra prompts would be very useful too. what a beautiful giveaway. thank you.
your journal is just gorgeous, btw.
So fabulous! I hadn't heard about these journals before, and yours must be full of lovely Norman Instagram pics :) Wonderful giveaway. I think I'll keep this earmarked either way, because I'd love to have one of these.
I'm stuck between She & Love Where We Live. Both seem wonderful. Perhaps I just need both ;)

Thanks for introducing me to this awesome shop! These would make really excellent Christmas gifts too!
I think my favorite is either Become or Love Letter, but it's tough to choose!
What a great idea for those of us who have thought about journaling but haven't. These journals seem like they would make getting started fun and easier than with just a blank book. I really like the Journey journal and Love Where We Live. Thanks!
That is a great idea.. And I'm not only thinking for myself but also as Christmas presents for my sister and SIL's. I too would god for 'She' but 'Love where we live' comes very close as well.
These are a wonderful way to journal. I love the She ones, I think, the best as I love to record the ordinariness of my life more than any thing.
I've been doing the 52in52 project on the sly too.
AND I'm loving Momento app on my iPhone.
These journals are wonderful! Great Christmas gift idea. I'm having trouble finding out about shipping costs, I think I'll just have to look harder. Choosing a favourite is really hard. Blue "she for me, Doodle List for the family or the Gratitude journal? Can't decide.
I like the Love Where We Live journal! Thanks for the giveaway. It looks like a really neat thing to do. :)
Journey. My daughter did Story corps with her sister when it was in her town and then since she is a reporter at the local PBS station went on to do a local story group. She so loved it that her dream is to be able to do personal histories as a sideline.
I love Katie's journals! This summer, I bought her Journey journal for my daughter to record our summer vacation! So cute! For myself, I can't decide between the She. journal or the {Become} journal! Both so awesome!
Wonderful journal! And thanks for the link to Katie's site and her generous opportunity for a gift certificate. The Seeking Grace prayer journal is a lovely idea for guided and focused writing. That would be my first pick. Christmas is second.

I discovered this shop a few weeks ago!! It's lovely!! My favorite journal is the She, the brown version. :)
It would be great to start a journal as i'm going through some rough times lately.
Or it would be great for making my inspiration boards.
"something serious with something silly" looks so fun. i could make good use of something like that!
love! I now know what I am getting my bff for Christmas!
I think the "something serious with something silly" looks like a lot of fun but I really like the one you are working on as well, and also "love where we live." Thanks so much for this post. Great timing--right before the holidays--great gifts.
I have wanted one of these journals a long time... I would love to win one...It's hard to pick a favorite, but I would like to tell my story with the She journal!
the travel journal would be fun because we do a lot of that!
It is hard to choose just one - I love the taste journal, joy to the world journal, and the baby journal. They would be a great way to start documenting for future generations!
I love the something serious and something silly list making journal! So cute and creative! I love lists and would make up lists of silly stuff like this when I was bored in school! I love these cute journals. Awesome talent.

I would love to begin the "Become" journal, to help push to the next level in achieving my goals (though I'd love to write in any of them). What an awesome product!
Gorgeous! Thanks for introducing me to this fabulous product. What a great gift idea for the upcoming holidays. And, of course, yours is beautiful!!
(Oh, my favorite is the doodle one, but please don't consider this cheating by having 2 entries!! :)
This brought tears to my eyes. I feel like I'm on such a journey and an exciting turning point in my life. I would pick the seeking grace journal in yellow candlelight to help me stay true and document my path :)
I think the doodle journal is just amazing!!!! Such a cool idea!!!
I love the baby journal, especially since I am currently pregnant!
What an amazing idea! I can identify with the story behind the project, in a way. My mom has talked for years about writing down her stories, perhaps even publishing a book, but as far as I can tell her desire to tell her story hasn't been realized. For her, the best book would probably be {she}.
For myself I think {become} would be nice as I am trying to figure things out and feel pulled in many directions.
Great post. THank you for sharing some of your journal! I'd never heard of this company before, but I really like the look of their products, and that story Katie shared about Storycorps really hit home. I especially love the "taste" one, or the "she" one that you have. It would be difficult to choose!
I love the Love where we Live journal! I bought a house a year ago, and finally feel 'home.' In that past year, a lot has changed, and I'm learning a different way of looking at home, as it's reflected in people and other things, not just my physical house. Great product!
wow, these are wonderful things, i'd probably go for the 'she 1.0' too. :)
These are wonderful. My daughter is at a crossroads in life and I think the Become Journal would be a great gift for her. Thanks for the giveaway.
I can't wait to buy one of these (unless I win of course) for my sister-in-law for Christmas. I know she'll love it!
I LOVE this idea! AND so beautiful! I am hoping to win the Seeking Grace... or maybe the She. SO. HARD. TO. DECIDE!!!

I love the fabric covered notebooks! My mom kept a personal journal through my first 6 months of life and I love reading it! I wish she had written more, I need to really do this for my daughter!
I never heard of these journals before but they are just beautiful. And like so many have said, perfect for gift-giving. Since I make lists for everything, I like the "Something Serious with Something Silly" but I also like the "seeking grace" journal as well.

oh, goodness, these are all so lovely!! i love the old school binding on the doodle journal. but i love the idea of a prayer journal...and the SHE journals look lovely as well. I'll have to stop back when I have Christmas $$ in hand :)
This journal is amazing! I used to write SO much and now it is so hard for me to put things down on paper. I think this type of journal will be exactly what I need to get my brain going in the right direction again. The She journal is my favorite with the doodle on following at a very close second. Thank you so much for this post because I didn't even know about this awesomeness!
I just wanted to add that I just saw the "become" journal and that is m new favorite! :) I'm not cheating, though. Hehe
I love journals like this! I used to scrapbook, but when my now 4yo was born I just didn't have time and by the time I did have time, I was just over it. But I do love journals like this, cool paper, some photos/words/and a few embellishments.
I love the purple Become journal!
I love the travel journal; it looks like a fun way to record a trip.
I *so* want that Joy journal for Christmas. I love Katie's journals! I found you through Gadanke's facebook page. You have a new follower!
I've been eyeing her journals for a while now and can't decide which one to start with because they're all so great. I'm torn between the "Become" and "Something Serious with Something Silly". Both look like lots of fun. I also think I'll get one of the travel journals before my next big trip. I should just get them all!!! Hahaha!
Great job with your journal, now I'm wondering if I should get a "She" journal too! Yours looks so great and I love the instagram photos inserted in there.
Beautifully done! I love the She. My heart. My world journal - so fun to fill in!
I love the "Something serious with something silly" journal. So much fun!
It was hard to pick, because they all look so cool, but I think my favorite is the one that you used! Thanks so much for the chance to win!
x Katherine
The "She" Journal looks like fun, but they are all too cute!
Those journals are amazing! I would love one of them, I like the one that you got She. My Life, My Days in blue. I may have to pick a few of them up for gifts this year as well!
I really like the "She" journal. It looks like it would be really fun to work on. Thanks for the chance to win!
The journals are so cute! My favorite is the SHE journal. So much fun!
