Random Fabrics

_MG_0046

I love when a random stack of fabrics work so well together.  I just happened to be stacking yardage to store back in the cabinet and happily noticed all of my favorites together.  I could easily create in only this pallet of colors and patterns.  If one stack of fabrics could represent me, this is probably it.

On a different note, I decided to hijack this post to share a comment someone was too cowardly to publish on yesterdays post.  They decided to send me a comment through my contact form and use a bogus email.  I hate to even share it here and give any power to an idiot, but I thought I would share it with you to see what some of us bloggers go through, in case you have escaped it yourself up until this point.  I’m definitely not alone in receiving these kinds of emails.

“Really? A personal blog that you put out on the nets for all to see? Quit your whining about sentence structure and shut down your "look at me and what I do" dumbass blog. You really think anyone cares about your bullshit life? You are shallow and self centered. Rename your site to the sometimes premadonna because that is more appropriate.”

They obviously cared enough about my “bullshit life” to read my post and write a nasty email!

Good lord, get a life. People never cease to amaze me. And, FYI, it’s spelled “prima donna”.  And honestly, being called the first female singer in an Opera is not really that hurtful.  Even being likened to pre-Madonna is not a big deal, but probably better than post-Madonna…or current-Madonna…  And yes, I know the slang of prima donna means conceited.  But honestly, I’d rather be shallow, self-centered and conceited than have this kind of hate built up inside of me.  It’s a good thing these types of emails don’t get to me.  Honestly I just makes me shake my head in wonder at someone who is so miserable in their own life they feel the need to write that.  I feel nothing but pity for people that have to go through life with that kind of hate and anger bottled up inside of them.

_MG_9872Have a great weekend!  I plan on it, starting with a trip to the Lego store with my little guy.  He has Christmas money from a great-grandma burning a hole in his pocket.  He will literally be like a kid in a candy shop today.

  5. Love your fabric stack!
Some people clearly have no lives or anything positive to stop them writing mean things. I feel bad for them too.
    Enjoy the Lego time :)

  6. That is a beautiful stack of fabric.

Some people seem think they have the right to criticize and judge. They forget that there are real people behind these words we right.

I for one have benefited from you honest and real approach to your blog. So, thank you!

    1. I think that's a big part of it, people forget that there is a real person behind the blog. I'm not a corporation, it's just me.

  7. After baring your soul that idiot writes that, my suggestion is that that person just quit reading and then what you write won't bother them. I have not read every blog on the internet and if I don't like a blog I don't go back. Someone else may like that blog and dislike some of the ones I think are great. That email is unnecessary and offensive.

    1. I don't understand why someone would even feel the need to write that. If a blog offends you that much, just close the window and move on. I have a feeling I actually know who wrote it.

  8. Yes, I've seen a lot of bloggers discuss the haters out there. I hope that the positive comments you receive outweigh the negatives. I read many quilting/sewing blogs and enjoy all of them. If I don't like one, I stop reading it. Pretty simple. Keep up the good PERSONAL blogging! (Your kitty is very cute.)

    1. I've always just figured if someone didn't like what I was doing, they didn't have to read it. It's a bit beyond me why they would feel the need to express such words, but maybe it made them feel better about them self.

  9. Love your answer to that vicious email, they truly must have very small and shallow lives to write such things.

Love your fabric - enjoy the Lego. xXx

  10. If that person had spent even half as much time or energy into being kind or useful as they did in being hateful and thoughtless, the world would be a much better place. Sorry you got trolled.

And as a Lego fan, I approve! So much fun!

  11. That sort of thing always makes me wonder what happened to that person that day - did their goldfish die? Or did they lose their job? Or do they just have anger management issues and really ought to be reading up on psychology blogs?

    Happy lego playing!

  12. I wish we had a Lego store!
Please continue blogging just the way you have been. Obviously, the sane, kind hearted readers will continue reading, just like we have been!

On a light note, I love the four fabrics together. They are beautifully uncomplicated.

  14. so sad. I for one (among many it seems!) enjoy your blog. Keep up the good work!

  15. Hi.
I really enjoy your blog and have done for some time. I had a comment that picked my blog to pieces and I managed to track them down and said that if they did it again I would report them to blogger and the police ( they were in the Uk). I called their bluff and not heard from them again. If they gave a false email they know that what they are doing is wrong and fear being caught. Classic bully stereotypes.
My daughter loves Lego and her main Lego playmate is my husband!
best wishesshow us his next Lego creation

  16. Do you think pintrest is to blame for the increase of haters? Every blog I read has had a post his week/fortnight about mean anonymous commenters and form the above it seems like these are people who are just stumbling in, rather than regulars. They see a pretty pic on Pintrest and expect to click and get a detailed how-to and instead they get real people sharing their lives and projects...
Ignore the viewers. Ignore your "traffic". It's your followers that count. It those of us who check our reader and say "Yippee! A new post!" and hurry over to find out what's been going on in your world. And we like the way you write, or we wouldn't be here!
Now get back to sewing that beautiful stack of fabric before I have to send you an email about how this blog is like so personal and not really crafty and you should not talk because people who dont even sew cant talk and should just not have blogs... :-P
    E xx

Your fabrics are intriguing!Classic prints. Do tell when you have a plan.

  24. Very courageous of you to publish the nasty comment. A good decision, now that it is public you can forget about it.

  26. Wow brings up memories of my past profession/hobby... I still have some of those emails! Someone told me once that I should be striving for more haters... Then I know I am challenging the status quo.

On a happier note - hope to see you soon! I missed the last three meetings but hope to be there this month

  27. I appreciate and admire your honesty and ownership of this blog as your space. Frankly it's refreshing to hear someone say I write for myself and I am glad if you read along, but my goal isn't to gain followers. I can imagine that the individual who wrote you that must be pretty troubled. I'm a newer reader (found you through your patterns and tutorials) and am looking forward to seeing more. :)

  28. I'm sorry that you received that email, and the one before it. I understand the ick factor that it brings on and am glad to hear you can move on. Totally not worth any energy!

My son just turned 16 and his grandparents gave him the Lego pop-top VW Van camper!!!! It is so awesome, and I'm happy to report he is having just as much fun working on it now as he did making Lego models 8 years ago. Enjoy!

  29. Wow, people can be so hateful. I recently posted a car for sale online, and got a nasty email in response. I debated sending the guy a message to come out of his basement on NYE (yes, he spent NYE sending nasty emails to strangers!) but, like you, figured he was pitiful enough. I love your blog, and those fabrics look great :D. Happy New Year :D

  30. Probably was just someone jealous that you could actually put together a coherent, grammatically correct sentence, as well as craft some fabulous stuff!

  31. I must be you if you say that fabric stack represents you! I LOVE THEM!

[I think that person is reaching out. :) Yeah, right....well, ya never know. They sound like they wish their life was better.]

  32. So your work is done! You have gained a "follower" who thinks you are like Madonna! Oh and you are "shallow and self centered"...well it is YOUR BLOG so, I say, Keep up the good work!! Seriously though, it takes all kind I guess. I know I enjoy your blog! Thanks!

  33. Interesting that someone would visit, read and take the time to comment on a site they think is so useless. Glad you don't let these sort of hateful people get to you. Some people are just so . . . . . strange.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My goodness I just found your site and had to pin your very helpful information on hexagons and then I come to your home page and read what that nasty person wrote, I can't believe someone would write something like that I had to read what you wrote before and didn't find anything of what he said to be true. You keep writing what is in your heart, for you truly have a beautiful one. Have a happy new year with your cute son.

  35. Booo... Sorry you had such a bad comment.

  37. sheesh. some people. you know I love you and your blog, and I think it's hilarious that the people who say such nasty things usually can't even spell :)

  38. I am just catching up on my blog reading and just had to comment on the dark cloud who cared enough to rain on your parade... well, it reminds me of something Coco Chanel once said...
“I don't care what you think about me. I don't think about you at all.” Good advice coming from a woman that knew a little something about being smart, funny and quite possibly a prima donna. Obviously lots of people care about your "bullshit life"-- including me! Keep posting!

P/S For what it is worth, my brother who is nearly 40 and is a high ranking naval officer still has all his legos from when he was a kid! So bring on the fun and bring on the creativity... to quilters and Lego lovers alike!

  39. i love your batch of fabrics!
your comment on the nasty email had me cracking up. I love Ta2Jewess' comment!!!

  40. I honestly can't understand why people do this. If you aren't interested don't read the blog. Nobody is forcing them too. People are funny/weird creatures.
I enjoy trawling the various quilting blogs to see what is happening.
