We’ve had the paint supplies out this past week. We started off painting rocks. Brice brought a few river rocks in from the backyard, one for me and one for him. I said “Hey, why don’t we paint them?” He looked at me a little funny, but agreed. We still need to paint black dots on his red rock and I’m not sure what I’ll paint on my white rock. A feather probably. (As you can see, Newman likes to “help” us. He actually licked a blob of acrylic paint I had squired out for painting. Silly cat.)
While we had the paints out, I decided to pull down a canvas from the shelf and paint up a single picture for the dining nook walls. I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile and quite like the artwork in the space. The mustard acrylic I was using was not the best, so I had a hard time with coverage. I thought about going over it again, or just scrapping the whole thing, but decided after letting it dry I liked it just the way it was. Imperfections and all.
I’ll be painting up a few more canvases for the space with other geometric patterns. It’s a nice way to bring my love of pattern and quilting into the space without actually hanging mini quilts. Because as much as I love mini quilts, I’d like to keep those to the sewing room. I like to keep things pretty minimal in my main living areas, and these little canvas paintings are just the thing.
So pretty! A lovely accent for a lovely room!
